Brixham 11-16 Torquay

This as a typically abrasive local derby with its fair share of penalties and yellow cards (of which Ben Cole had two), but it was the Tics who made the most of it and converted their kicks to come out victors. Elsewher the Quins won, but the Extras and colts were defeated, all vs Brixham.

Torquay 29-17 Avonmouth OB's (Int Cup)

Torquay turned in their most complete performance of the season so far to overcome tough opposition from the same League. The OB’s are early League pace-setters so this match could be seen as a useful benchmark. Next week the Tics return to League action away to our friends from the other side of the Bay, and of course a big turnout is expected at the recently refurbished Astley Park. Torquay 47-11 Yatton

The Tics were too strong for visiting Yatton, and the only gripe would be that there could have been more scoring chances converted on this sunny afternoon at the Rec. With Newton slipping on the Sidmouth banana skin, Tics go third. Taunton 24-8 Torquay

Torquay battled hard in the wind and the rain at Hyde Park and barring a few missed tackles leading to some easy tries for the hosts, would have been in the running at half-time and might have fancied their chances playing with the elements in the second period. Still such statements of the obvious don’t negate the fact that the Tics have slipped into the ranks of the ‘also-rans’ and will need to work hard for the rest of the season in order to keep pace with the front-runners as the League table distils into a valid form guide........
