Torquay
Athletic 9pts, Newton Abbot 39
South West One
NO surprises at the Recreation Ground where play-off
chasing Newton eventually routed relegation worriers
Torquay.
The All Whites edged the first half thanks to a try
on the half hour from scrum-half Nigel Cane, who
sprinted clear from a scrum on the 22 to go over near
the posts.
Mike Saxton failed with the conversion after kicking
two penalties early on.

Torquay 0-44 Hartpury College
Monday, January 18, 2010, 09:29
This game went ahead after a sterling effort from Ken Evans and his ground staff volunteers as they were out from 0930 scooping and forking. The Tics will inevitably be disappointed in that they took their eye off the ball for two periods in the match and both times the talented students took ruthless advantage. The match was 0-0 at 20 minutes and 0-14 at 23! The second half was 0-3 going in to the last 10 minutes! That said Ben Cole taught the rugby wannabes a thing or two about line-out tactics as he dominated this aspect on the day, and Jon Arnold showed what can happen when seasoned man meets the apprentice on the field, as he on more than one occasion gave the students a lesson in abrasive, ball-carrying contact......
