St Marys Old Boys 18-6 Torquay

SMOB were surprised and elated after this poor Torquay away performance as they turned over a 62-5 deficit from the corresponding fixture at he Rec less than a month ago. The Tics grafted, especially Skipper Ben Cole and Full-Back Matt Jackson. However the Tics failed to play and kick for territory in the first half when they had the elements behind them, and some soft tackling let SMOB 10, Charlie Farmer go in under the visitor’s posts. The Tics never recovered and never really looked like scoring a try, with most rugby being played in their own half. The gathering gloom on the shortest Saturday of the year did little to lift the travelling supporters, and the Tics go into the Christmas break played 12, won 6, lost 6 - with most losses corresponding to recent, injury laden weeks.....Full details/Match REPORT can be read here...

Paignton 13-9 Torquay

Ongoing injuries and unavailabilities, though disruptive, are no excuse to concede, and the Tics will inevitably be wholly disappointed in losing this away fixture to League newbies and local rivals Paignton at Queens Park. Some might have argued that the writing was on the wall, but players and coaches are left facing the reality of having played 11, won 6 and lost 5. The Tics will be banking on a strong showing in the away match to lowly SMOB 20/12/08 in the last League fixture of the year, otherwise it could be a colder than normal Christmas at the Rec! The Tics won the home leg 62-5 in mid November. Full details/Match REPORT can be read here...
