Saturday 2/2/2008 League game.

For only the second time this season the young Tics lost, unfortunately both times have now been to Ivybridge.

Ivybridge proved to be just to strong to enable Torquay to take revenge from earlier in the season. Torquay did get off to a good start when after only 8 mins Tom Harris went over following some good Torquay pressure. No conversion. With both sides fairly evenly matched Ivybridge pressure eventually resulted in their own try on 22 mins. No conversion.
Torquay came back strongly and when Ivybridge were awarded a five metre scrum to which they could not control properly, due to Torquay pressure, Jo Ward managed to pounce on a lose ball that went back over the Ivybridge try line to score. No conversion.

The second half continued in the same manor with pressure being applied from both sides in defence and attack but it was Torquay that started to make mistakes and lose some of their normal consistency. This led to a mix up in defence that allowed Ivybridge to pick up a ball and go over on 15 mins and this time the all important conversion was kicked.
Ivybridge controlled most of the remaining half and as much as Torquay tried their composure let them down which led to too many mistakes. Ivybridge were well drilled and were able to keep Torquay at bay.

Torquay will feel disappointed with this result as they did not adapt their game to the pressure Ivybridge applied. As the result suggests it was very close and maybe Torquay can take revenge next time out.
