A USEFUL
'WARM-UP' FOR TICS
Date :

Torquay had selection issues of their own - no Richard Hunt in the pack, no Adam Last, Scott Rylance or Ben Passenger behind the scrum - so the size of the victory should be a credit to the side.
There is no pleasing some people though, among them Tics' hard taskmaster and coach Drew Powell, who felt the margin should have been wider.
"It was only 13-0 at half time when we should have been out of sight by then," said Powell. "We would have been had we not kept finding new ways to blow scoring chances.
"The good thing was we were creating the chances, which is what you want to see.
"It was a bit disappointing to let Clevedon in for two tries at the end though. We were 32-7 up and let them get it back to 32-19, which didn't really represent the game.
"Other than for a period in the first half when we struggled a bit against them in the scrums, Clevedon were never really a threat in the game."
With Matt Jackson pulling the strings effectively from stand-off, which will create an interesting selection dilemma if skipper Passenger is available again next week, Torquay scored five tries.
Centre Ben Dommett helped himself to a maiden 1st XV hat-trick.
Ed Cribb, deputising for the injured Rylance at scrum-half, scored a well-worked try up the blind side. Wing Paul Bettesworth joined the scoring party with a try in the corner.
Jackson, with a penalty and two conversions, completed the scoring tally.
