Matt
Allinson winged in for a try hat-trick as Torquay
underlined their promotion credentials with this
win.Hutton Moore is a notoriously hard place to win
at and for 60 minutes Torquay weren't sure they would
be going home with the points.
The half-time
scoreline was 10-0 in Torquay's favour with Allinson
scoring the only try and Matt Jackson kicking the
conversion and a penalty.
Allinson added a second
try early in the second half, but Hornets weren't
about to roll over that easily.
A Matt Bourne try, converted by James Biddle, got
Hornets back in the game and made things interesting
for a while. Then Torquay shot clear.
Allanson completed his hat-trick, Jimmy Hill on the
other flank got a try as well, and Jackson rounded
things off with two more conversion and another
penalty.
Torquay director of rugby Colin Rylance said: "It was
a tough old game, they are down at the bottom of the
league, but they took us on and penned us back for
long periods.
"We were under the cosh and we gave away a lot of
penalties as they kept us on the back foot.
"But we scored early in the first half and then
scored early in the second half and managed to stay
on top and finish strongly.
"We scored some very nice tries and it was nice to
see some three quarter tries - that was especially
pleasing. Matt Allinson got a hat-trick as well,
which was really good.
"The three quarters put in some fantastic effort and
were rewarded with some good tries. We had to dig it
out up front and came through on top.
"It was a very pleasing win and, all in all, a good
day."
