The Exeter Chiefskindly
invited the family, friends and work colleagues of Tics'
stalwart Malcolm Baker to a celebratory, commemorative
dinner ahead of their pre-season warm-up match vs
Bristol Rugby at Sandy Park . (Saturday 16th August,
Exeter Chiefs 15, Bristol Rugby 6). The occasion was
used to dedicate the footbridge access to the Chiefs new
home as 'Baker Bridge'. Chief Exec Tony Rowe explained
how Malcolm's solution based approach to his work made
the whole move from the old County Ground a possibility.
He went as far as to say that if Bakes wasn't involved,
indeed the project may never have got off the ground.
Baker Bridge is a really fitting tribute to Malcolm's
memory, and Malcolm used to say how proud he was of the
scheme. He certainly enjoyed his visits to Sandy Park.
TARFC would like to thank Exeter for their kind hospitality
and fitting tribute. It really was a special rugby
day.
